MoMiner

"Amusing, but quickly dull."

This game has the makings of something better. The production values are excellent, and the upgrades are satisfying. I can't help but think that making the turret a more active part of the experience would contribute quite a bit to the overall game. Also, the upgrades are far too powerful for the game to complete itself so quickly. Competing miners, or an option to continue digging would be excellent. Why not an Easter egg for hitting the core of the earth? Or for popping out on the opposite hemisphere? A Lost World reference would go well here, or a brief passage through lava flows or ocean. Mass potential. While the execution is solid, it doesn't offer much beyond that initial click. Hell, I'm writing this review while the digger hits the bottom yet again on its own, and I don't even have all of the upgrades. (Just buy fuel efficiency and chance for fuel to spawn, and you've just about got it.)

Battle Egg

"Substandard execution of a stale idea."

Defense games in all of their forms are done so often, that a game this minimalistic barely warrants more than a few curious clicks. The upgrades are mundane and very limited, the enemies are monotonous repetition, and the balance is completely out of whack. (For the most part, it is far too easy. Yet there are certain points at which the game becomes nearly impossible to play.)
Not a bad game, just too little far too late in the genre's life to be considered noteworthy in any way. A little more depth and a lot more creativity would go a long way.

Shopping Cart Hero 2

"Not quite ready for a second ride."

date: January 1, 2010

I see some features added, but not enough for a sequel. A patch, perhaps. Really, this is just the first one with a few more items and an irritating reminder that now even the Flash game world is littered with "premium" content. Best of luck in your next attempt, here are a few possible thoughts:
A) Background. Taking this and putting a supermarket or a Wal-mart parody and its parking lot in the background would add a subtle element of flavour and humour, with some unspoken context.
B) Soundplay. Take a little cue from snowboarding games like 1080 on the N64, or more recently the SSX series. A crashing rock anthem fading into nothing but whistling wind in the air, then returning with gusto at the landing. It definitely lends a sense of impact.
C) Customization. People live for things like this. You have some different groupies, but why not let people choose from a selection of stick figures? Perhaps even draw their own head on the top? A little personalization goes a long way.
D) Upgrades, upgrades, upgrades. No one will ever complain that there are 30 rocket upgrades if by the end you can fly your cart into the sun. :)

Overall, this wasn't a bad sophmore outing...It's just hard to distinguish it from the freshman entry. Keep up the good work, I look forward to seeing another more realized iteration of a very fun game.

"Considering..."

Considering this is a low-brow mockery of someone's beliefs, and that the intention is clearly stated...nah, it's still a piece of shit. I can respect a lampooning as well as anyone, but wow. This just feels sort of passive-aggressive and angry. At least make it less that excruciatingly bad.

Interactive Buddy v.1.01

"Almost..."

date: July 4, 2009

Closes in on sadistic virtual nirvana. If we had some (optional) context like high scores or something to keep coming back to, I don't think it could get better. And heck, more items never hurts! If less of the effects were reused, or some were just recolored, that would help immensely.

Squirtman

"Potential..."

submission: Squirtman
date: July 4, 2009

Here's the lowdown, just my opinion:
+ sharp graphics
+ nice art direction
+ tight, responsive controls

- no death animations make the kills less satisfying
- particle effects ("bullets" etc.) leave much to be desired
- weapons don't feel unique
- sound is repetitive and headache-inducing
- level design is very bland

Overall, the concept is there, and a lot of the execution. I think you could have a serious classic on your hands with a little more spit'n'polish here and there. Applaudable effort! Like the title says, there's a ____load of potential. :)
